Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about SEAT BELTS:INTEGRATED CHILD SEAT filed March 21, 2009

NHTSA complaint #713034 (ODI reference 10262633) concerns a 2008 CHEVROLET TAHOE and was filed on March 21, 2009. The owner reports the failure occurred on May 14, 2008. The report was geocoded to Kentucky based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as seat belts:integrated child seat, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. No VIN was supplied by the filer, so this complaint contributes to model-year trend data but cannot be tied to a specific vehicle.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET TAHOE cohort independently describe similar seat belts:integrated child seat failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

2008 CHEVY TAHOE DOES NOT HAVE A CHILD SAFETY SEAT HOOK IN THE SECOND ROW SEAT LEFT SIDE TO HOOK YOUR CHILD SEAT TO. I HAVE CALLED CHEVY AND THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ANSWER FOR THE MISSING PART ONLY THEY DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF A CHILD SEAT IN THAT LOCATION. THIS LOCATION IS NEXT TO THE LEFT DOOR THEY DO RECOMMEND YOU TO USE A CHILD SEAT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR NEXT TO THE DOOR (?) SO YOU HAVE TO PLACE THE CHILD SEAT ON THE RIGHT SIDE NEXT TO THE DOOR AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEAT. SO IF YOU DO THIS YOU CAN NOT GET TO THE BACK THIRD ROW SEAT . THIS IS A MISTAKE THAT THEY LEFT OUT THE PART AND WILL NOT FIX. *TR
