2007 FORD EXPEDITION — Complaint #649581
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION:SHIFT PATTERN INDICATOR filed December 12, 2007
NHTSA complaint #649581 (ODI reference 10211601) concerns a 2007 FORD EXPEDITION and was filed on December 12, 2007. The owner reports the failure occurred on June 1, 2007. The vehicle had 15,000 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to Texas based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as power train:manual transmission:shift pattern indicator, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD EXPEDITION cohort independently describe similar power train:manual transmission:shift pattern indicator failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2007 FORD EXPEDITION shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
I PURCHASED A 2007 EXPEDITION IN OCT. 06 AND ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED THAT WHEN I CAME TO A STOP I FELT A KICK AFTERWARDS. SLOWLY IT PROGRESSED TO A HARDER PUSH, WHERE IT ACTUALLY FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HIT ME FROM BEHIND. I TOOK IT FOR SERVICE AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALER IN OCTOBER 07 AND THEY HAD ORDERS FROM FORD TO RECALIBRATE THE TRANSMISSION FOR NOW UNTIL THEY FOUND A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM IN MID-NOVEMBER. THE RECALIBRATION WORKED FOR 1 WEEK AND NOW THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. AGAIN I CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY CLAIM NOT TO HAVE A FIX YET. I NEED THIS FIX . *TR
