Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about EQUIPMENT:RECREATIONAL VEHICLE/TRAILER:LPG SYSTEMS:LINES AND FITTINGS filed December 28, 2006
NHTSA complaint #607773 (ODI reference 10177197) concerns a 2003 CHEVROLET S10 and was filed on December 28, 2006. The owner reports the failure occurred on December 20, 2006. The vehicle had 37,000 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to New York based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as equipment:recreational vehicle/trailer:lpg systems:lines and fittings, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET S10 cohort independently describe similar equipment:recreational vehicle/trailer:lpg systems:lines and fittings failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2003 CHEVROLET S10 shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
I COULDN'T GET GAS INTO IT THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO MY REPAIRMAN. WHICH COST 169.38 TO REPLACE THE GAS FILLER NECK. I CALLED GM AND WAS TOLD IF I HAD TAKEN IT TO THEIR AUTHORIZED DEALER THEY MAY HAVE CONSIDERED REIMBURSING ME. THEY SAID IF A RECALL COMES UP I CAN FILE TO GET MY MONEY BACK. MEANWHILE THIS TRUCK IS A 2003 WITH ONLY 37000 ON IT. ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. I SAW ON YOUR SITE THAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD AND FILED A COMPLAINT. SO IF THEY HADN'T PAID FOR IT TO GET FIXED I WOULD OFF HAD A BIGGER BILL FROM A DEALERSHIP. *JB
