2002 DODGE QUAD — Complaint #503958
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about CHILD SEAT:TETHER: STRAP/WEBBING filed October 27, 2004
NHTSA complaint #503958 (ODI reference 10096509) concerns a 2002 DODGE QUAD and was filed on October 27, 2004. The owner reports the failure occurred on October 25, 2004. The report was geocoded to Texas based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as child seat:tether: strap/webbing, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same DODGE QUAD cohort independently describe similar child seat:tether: strap/webbing failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2002 DODGE QUAD shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
I HAVE A 2002 DODGE RAM QUAD CAB. I HAVE A 6 MONTH OLD THAT USES A REAR FACING INFANT CAR SEAT. THERE ARE NO FLOOR OR SEAT ANCHORS OR TETHERS TO HOOK THE CAR SEAT TO. THERE IS TETHERS AT THE HEAD REST, BUT THIS DOES NOT PREVENT THE CAR SEAT FROM MOVING. NO ONE WILL HELP ME. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER OVER & OVER AGAIN, I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEARLERSHIP TO HAVE THEM INSTALL THE CAR SEAT CORRECTLY & THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. THEY BLAME IT ON NOT WANTING TO ALTER THE VEHICLE SINCE THEY WERE ONLY REQUIRED TO PLACE THE CORRECT LATCH ANCHORS OR TETHERS IN 2003 VEHICLES AND ABOVE. IF YOU CAN'T HELP ME, PLEASE GIVE SOME ADVICE ON WHO OR WHAT WILL!!!!*AK
