NHTSA Complaint about FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING filed February 11, 2026

NHTSA complaint #2175964 (ODI reference 11717407) concerns a 2024 ACURA ZDX and was filed on February 11, 2026. The owner reports the failure occurred on September 26, 2024. The report was geocoded to California based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: yes, fire: no, injuries: 2, fatalities: 0. A complaint that flags a crash, fire, or fatality is escalated on NHTSA's internal review queue and factors more heavily into any Preliminary Evaluation decision on this make and model. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same ACURA ZDX cohort independently describe similar forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

I’m reaching out regarding a serious vehicle incident that occurred in September 2024 involving my 2024 Acura ZDX. The vehicle i am leasing, accelerated forward into our property under circumstances that remain unclear and crashed into our garage, tearing down approximately half of the structure. During the event, the vehicle struck my girlfriend, causing her to sustain significant injuries, including a fractured femur, fractured tailbone, and a T12 compression fracture. There are several concerns regarding potential failure of vehicle safety systems, including lack of automatic emergency braking activation and no emergency call initiation. The vehicle remains in my possession and has not been repaired. I would like to explore whether a mechanical defect, unintended acceleration issue, or safety system failure may have contributed to the incident. Please let me know if you are available to review this matter. I can provide photos, documentation, and access to the vehicle for insp
