NHTSA Complaint about WHEELS:HUB filed February 10, 2026

NHTSA complaint #2175308 (ODI reference 11716949) concerns a 2021 CHRYSLER PACIFICA and was filed on February 10, 2026. The owner reports the failure occurred on February 4, 2026. The vehicle had 20,000 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to Delaware based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as wheels:hub, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHRYSLER PACIFICA cohort independently describe similar wheels:hub failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

The contact owns a 2021 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 - 35 MPH, there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the wheel well or near the front underbody near the air dam, as if there was a piece of ice stuck in the air dam. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the front wheel hub hardware was loose, affecting the wheel bearings, and causing the failure. The contact was informed that the wheel hub hardware and front wheel bearings needed to be replaced, and the front wheels needed to be rotated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
