2015 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT — Complaint #2174157
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING filed February 6, 2026
NHTSA complaint #2174157 (ODI reference 11716171) concerns a 2015 FORD TRANSIT CONNECT and was filed on February 6, 2026. The owner reports the failure occurred on September 1, 2025. The report was geocoded to Missouri based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as back over prevention: rearview system braking, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD TRANSIT CONNECT cohort independently describe similar back over prevention: rearview system braking failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description
I am submitting this complaint to report an unresolved safety recall and the inability to obtain a timely inspection or repair, which I believe places me and my family at increased risk of a crash. My vehicle is a 2015 Ford Transit Connect. The vehicle is subject to Ford Safety Recall 25S89 and NHTSA Recall 25V572, concerning a failure of the rearview camera system. The rearview camera on my vehicle frequently displays a message stating âRear View Camera Unavailable, Contact Ford Dealershipâ and then goes to a black screen. This results in a complete loss of rear visibility while backing up, increasing the risk of a collision, especially involving pedestrians or other vehicles. I received the safety recall notice in September 2025. Since then, I have made numerous attempts to have the vehicle inspected and repaired. Despite repeated contact with my local dealership, has informed me that they cannot perform the inspection or recall repair because they do not have an SSCC repair proc
