Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about POWER TRAIN filed December 15, 2025

NHTSA complaint #2157596 (ODI reference 11705228) concerns a 2021 CHEVROLET BLAZER and was filed on December 15, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on December 13, 2025. The report was geocoded to Washington based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as power train, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET BLAZER cohort independently describe similar power train failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

For about a week and a half my car had made a high pitched wheezing/hubbing sound when started cold. This occurred at all temperatures cold and warm. Yesterday December 13th I went to run some errands and about a mile into my drive my 2021 3lt 3.6 V6 Chevrolet Blazer lost the ability to power itself. There was no electrical problem however the power train lost power all gears drive and reverse. I was able to get off the roadway without incident. I scan my check engine light and had several check engine lights including a P 0796.
