Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) filed December 10, 2025
NHTSA complaint #2155933 (ODI reference 11704156) concerns a 2024 RAM 1500 and was filed on December 10, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on June 4, 2025. The vehicle had 10,000 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to Washington based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as electronic stability control (esc), one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same RAM 1500 cohort independently describe similar electronic stability control (esc) failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. The contact owns a 2024 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after shifting to park(P) and exiting the vehicle, the parking brake had independently activated upon return. The contact released the parking brake and proceeded to drive normally. While the contact was driving 40 MPH, the parking brake unexpectedly activated, causing the rear wheels to slide over into the other lane while the vehicle came to a screeching stop. Soon after the failure, the contact was notified of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V653000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC). The vehicle was taken to the dealer for service; however, upon the return of the vehicle, there were 11 fault codes on the instrument panel. The following day, the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the technician who had serviced the vehicle had failed to add a signature to the recall repair, which caused the codes
