Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same GMC SIERRA 1500 cohort independently describe similar engine and engine cooling:exhaust system failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description
Tick sound coming from underneath. Also fumes smell. Dealership found it to be the exhaust system. Said the muffler valve is bad. Quoted me $2000 for repair. Never heard of a exhaust system failure in only 5 years. Very unsatisfied with this.
