The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET TAHOE cohort independently describe similar steering failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. I was driving down [XXX] in LaPuente and every light on my dash lit up and I attempted to Exit freeway and my brakes would not work so I waited for car to slow down and luckily I was near by the Puente hills Chevrolet dealer. Also my steering wheel was very lose and it felt that I couldnât steer well. I pulled into dealership and had to push my brakes all the way to the floor board just for Tahoe to stop. Dealer said that there was various communication codes which they said vehicle would have to stay due to safety issues.
