Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about STRUCTURE:BODY filed July 29, 2025
NHTSA complaint #2115252 (ODI reference 11677056) concerns a 2022 FORD BRONCO and was filed on July 29, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on August 1, 2023. The report was geocoded to Texas based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as structure:body, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD BRONCO cohort independently describe similar structure:body failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. The rear hardtop panel on my 2022 Ford Bronco has developed serious cracking and surface separation after only three years of light, garage-kept use. The fiberglass is fracturing near the seams, exposing the underlying material. The Ford representative acknowledged the damage but said they could not act without a recall or broader investigation. No warning lights or messages appeared; the issue is external and has progressed gradually. The damage began well before my bumper-to-bumper coverage expired, but has recently worsened. Fordâs own General Service Bulletin GSB 23-7174 lists rear hardtop panel cra
