The report was geocoded to Oklahoma based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as electrical system: integrated trailer brake control, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 cohort independently describe similar electrical system: integrated trailer brake control failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

I purchased the Curt Triflex Next Trailer Brake Controller GM Part # 19435732 ( Although may be sold through several part #s) from Jim Norton Chevrolet as this is a GM recommended part through the GM parts catalog and is plug and play with included wiring harness making simple no wire splicing connection. The brake controller we need to tow or travel trailer it worked great for about a month maybe two , then I went to hook up our trailer and the brake controller would not function. So I had a electrician trouble shoot the power and all that checked out good. I contacted CURT for a warranty claim and they stated this is a known issue and they are sending me a new one and I did respond that's spooky what if I was towing and it stops controlling. this could lead to a serious safety issue. I unplugged and it and plugged back in and it started working then stopped again before the next weekend to pull my trailer. again Curt stated via email this is a known issue and sending me a new one w
