The affected component is categorized as structure:interior panels:sun visor, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same NISSAN FRONTIER cohort independently describe similar structure:interior panels:sun visor failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description
The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that while unhooking the driverâs side sun visor to block the sun, the sun visor swung back and struck the contact in the face. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the failure was acknowledged; however, the contact was informed that a replacement part was on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was given the same information as the dealer. The contact stated that due to a medical condition and the medication needed to treat the condition, he must be examined by a medical professional whenever his body gets hit, to ensure that he remains in good health. The contact had sent several emails to the manufacturer for updates and received replies that there was no update on an ETA for the part. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
