Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL filed April 12, 2025
NHTSA complaint #2082449 (ODI reference 11654282) concerns a 2014 JEEP WRANGLER and was filed on April 12, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on May 14, 2024. The report was geocoded to Missouri based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as vehicle speed control, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same JEEP WRANGLER cohort independently describe similar vehicle speed control failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2014 JEEP WRANGLER shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
Our ABS Control module has failed. p/n 68145835AE. It's available at any time to inspect. The ABS system does not function. In a rain or snow situation this could cause severe harm to us and others on the road. Our local service center that works on a wide array of Jeep Wrangler products says they have other customers with the same problem on this specific model. It is also reported substantially on online Jeep enthusiast forums. The unit in our Jeep has been looked at by our service center. There are warning lights on the dash indicating the ABS is non-functional. This failed in May 2024. The ABS module also controls speed control and that also is no longer working. It has been this way for over a year. Other Jeep owners with this similar issue have reported the same issue. This appears to be a systemic issue that Jeep is very aware of but has taken no action to correct. The cost if I want to have this repaired is $1,200 plus labor.
