Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS filed March 22, 2025
NHTSA complaint #2076173 (ODI reference 11649894) concerns a 2024 ACURA ZDX and was filed on March 22, 2025. The owner reports the failure occurred on March 17, 2025. The report was geocoded to California based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as forward collision avoidance: warnings, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same ACURA ZDX cohort independently describe similar forward collision avoidance: warnings failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. The system exhibits hyper-sensitivity, leading to unwarranted and dangerous automatic braking events. On 3/17/25, at approximately 4pm PT, I was driving my Acura ZDX on US 101 at 65 mph. The vehicle essentially stalled for approximately 5-10 seconds, and I was unable to accelerate or move forward during this time. This created a highly dangerous situation, as I was vulnerable to being rear-ended by oncoming traffic. This incident occurred even though I had disabled the Forward Collision Mitigation System through the vehicle's settings. The system's behavior indicates a severe malfun
