NHTSA Complaint about EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:INFOTAINMENT:VIDEO (TOUCH)SCREEN/MONITOR/UNIT filed October 16, 2024

NHTSA complaint #2033020 (ODI reference 11620250) concerns a 2015 CADILLAC CTS and was filed on October 16, 2024. The owner reports the failure occurred on November 16, 2021. The report was geocoded to Georgia based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as equipment:electrical:infotainment:video (touch)screen/monitor/unit, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CADILLAC CTS cohort independently describe similar equipment:electrical:infotainment:video (touch)screen/monitor/unit failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

The car was taken to Hutchinson dealership in Macon Georgia, to have the oil changed and when I went to pick up the car the Cue Screen was cracked. I asked being the car was in their possession they should be liable for the repairs. They told me that there was nothing they can do because there was no Warranty. I asked why would the car need a Warranty in there possession. It's been two year and i can't pay to have it repaired. I'm [XXX] and can't afford to have it repaired. Very sad.....
