Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same JEEP WRANGLER cohort independently describe similar equipment:recreational vehicle/trailer:120/240 vac electrical system:receptacle failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

I plugged in my charger to my Jeep 4xe and I heard a sizzling sound from the wall charger unit and outlet. I immediately disconnected the charger and cut the power to the unit from the breaker box. This was installed in 2021 by a professional electrician. I am grateful I was observant because this would have caused a fire. There was evidence of this starting in the outlet box (black residue). This was. a major near miss safety incident. Hired a professional electrician to repair the charger. The wall charging unit is Jeep branded: HCS-40P Hardwired Electric Vehicle Charging Station, Jeep Branded by Clipper Creek Part number: 0922-00-013 Today there is a note on the MOPAR website: No Longer Stellantis LEV Readiness Compliant Curious...should this unit have been recalled?
