2022 JEEP WAGONEER — Complaint #2003244
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL filed June 27, 2024
NHTSA complaint #2003244 (ODI reference 11597319) concerns a 2022 JEEP WAGONEER and was filed on June 27, 2024. The owner reports the failure occurred on May 18, 2024. The report was geocoded to Nevada based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as forward collision avoidance: adaptive cruise control, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same JEEP WAGONEER cohort independently describe similar forward collision avoidance: adaptive cruise control failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2022 JEEP WAGONEER shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
While driving on the highway the 2022 Wagoneer flashed an error on the front dash that read "Adaptive Cruise Control Unavailable" within seconds of this error "Cruise Control not Available" error also flashed. Then the vehicle started to decelerate on its own. The vehicle would not accelerate with the gas pedal completely depressed. And continued to decelerate. We were able to safely, exit the highway because it was very early and very few vehicles on the highway at this time. Following this occurrence the vehicles has been into two different dealerships that stated they would not be able to make repairs because they cannot duplicate the system failure.
