Complaint Description
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the tailgate independently opened, causing tools to fall onto the roadway. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the failure was due to a faulty switch on the tailgate. The tailgate switch was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall related to the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,500. The VIN was not available.
