Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:RADIO/TAPE DECK/CD ETC. filed November 16, 2023
NHTSA complaint #1943511 (ODI reference 11555424) concerns a 2024 CHEVROLET TRAX and was filed on November 16, 2023. The owner reports the failure occurred on June 19, 2023. The report was geocoded to Mississippi based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as equipment:electrical:radio/tape deck/cd etc., one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CHEVROLET TRAX cohort independently describe similar equipment:electrical:radio/tape deck/cd etc. failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2024 CHEVROLET TRAX shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
I bought my car in June of 2023 and after about 2 weeks of driving it I noticed when I drove 40-50 miles per hour my car would start to make a loud griding sounding noise... so last Friday November 10 2023 the dealership replaced the noise cancellation modeler and the noise completely stopped... which is great, but now my radio will not connect to any device wirelessly on apple car play... it only connects to the devices through blue-tooth only. we have tried 6 devices of mine, no luck, the dealership tried serval devices and they could not figure it out either... this is a major inconvenience because apple car-play was the main reason I bought the vehicle.
