2020 BUICK ENCLAVE — Complaint #1934164
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM filed October 9, 2023
NHTSA complaint #1934164 (ODI reference 11548946) concerns a 2020 BUICK ENCLAVE and was filed on October 9, 2023. The owner reports the failure occurred on October 5, 2023. The report was geocoded to Florida based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as fuel/propulsion system, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same BUICK ENCLAVE cohort independently describe similar fuel/propulsion system failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2020 BUICK ENCLAVE shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
After filling up fuel, vehicle runs rough, hesitates, and stalls at idle speeds. This occurs after every fill up. The check engine light comes on and states an issue with the anti-lock brake system. Iâve had the vehicle checked by Buick 5 times and they have not been able to replicate the issue, so troubleshooting stopped. I know a recall came out this July for 2019 Buick Enclaves to replace the evaporative emissions purge valve due to not fully closing. This is the issue with my 2020 Buick Enclave and is a massive safety concern as the vehicle stalls while driving at slow speeds after fill up. Most recent event occurred on October 5th. Iâve posted a picture from last year that captured the same issue.
