Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about SERVICE BRAKES, AIR:ANTILOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE filed August 21, 2023

NHTSA complaint #1920996 (ODI reference 11539889) concerns a 2007 FORD FUSION and was filed on August 21, 2023. The owner reports the failure occurred on May 17, 2023. The report was geocoded to Pennsylvania based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as service brakes, air:antilock:control unit/module, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD FUSION cohort independently describe similar service brakes, air:antilock:control unit/module failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

ABS and WRENCH icon are flashing on dashboard. Car making a terrible noise from underneath . I try to drive the car but it loses power and goes into LIMP mode. I have read many problems with the ABS control module valves sticking open due to the wrong type of brake fluid put in by manufacturer. My car is a 2007 ford fusion sel AWD with only 89,000 miles. I need a recall service appointment as quickly as possible because this is the only vehicle I own. The car is just sitting in my driveway. HELP!!!!!!!!!
