Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about VISIBILITY:GLASS, SIDE/REAR filed June 12, 2023

NHTSA complaint #1901560 (ODI reference 11526663) concerns a 2023 HYUNDAI PALISADE and was filed on June 12, 2023. The owner reports the failure occurred on January 1, 2023. The report was geocoded to South Carolina based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as visibility:glass, side/rear, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same HYUNDAI PALISADE cohort independently describe similar visibility:glass, side/rear failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

Both LR and RR door windows are Smoky, Foggy, Hazy at all times but when exposed to direct sunlight are a safety hazard and need to be replaced. Hyundai provided me with a TSB #23-BD-001H. It states the FMVSS are meet. I strongly disagree with this TSB. The TSB also stated on CERTAIN 2023 MY Palisades. My question is if it meets or exceeds FMVSS then why isn’t that why on all 2023 Palisades not just CERTAIN ones??
