Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about SUSPENSION:FRONT filed February 12, 2022

NHTSA complaint #1794302 (ODI reference 11451652) concerns a 2017 FORD F-250 and was filed on February 12, 2022. The owner reports the failure occurred on January 22, 2022. The report was geocoded to Texas based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as suspension:front, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD F-250 cohort independently describe similar suspension:front failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

Experiencing violent shaking in steering when at speed, seems to be at 55mph and higher, that could cause loss of control of vehicle. Seems to be brought about from hitting bumps in road which activates violent shaking. Only remedy is to slow down immediately which could be impossible in some traffic situations. After research, found out this is a known problem in my year of truck, 2017 F250 Super Duty. There are no lamps or otherwise warnings that the problem is about to occur. I have not brought the vehicle in to be fixed at this time but plan on doing so shortly. This is my only vehicle and the problem seems to be getting worse since first experience.
