The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD F-150 cohort independently describe similar service brakes, hydraulic:power assist failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description
There was a service board recall on the brake vacuum pump. It regularly gets corroded and seizes up. Ford said theyâd replace it up to 150,000 miles or 10 years. They know itâs a problem and will continue to go bad but doesnât offer a fix for it. At any point, a person can loose power brakes and hit something. I almost rear ended someone because I was unaware of this issue. It had been fixed by Ford and is now bad again. They want $6-700 for a part that can go bad yearly and without notice. Instead of replacing a part, coming up with a fix would have been high priority. I doubt many Ford owners know their part is bad until itâs too late. Iâve looked for fixes but Iâm not engineer and Iâm sure Ford has some good ones.
