Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about SUSPENSION:FRONT filed August 30, 2021
NHTSA complaint #1765787 (ODI reference 11431076) concerns a 2012 FORD F-250 and was filed on August 30, 2021. The owner reports the failure occurred on August 29, 2021. The report was geocoded to Maryland based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as suspension:front, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD F-250 cohort independently describe similar suspension:front failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2012 FORD F-250 shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
I was driving on the highway and the front of the truck started to shake uncontrollably. I thought maybe I hit something. Then a little while longer it did it again when I hit a bump. Thank goodness not a lot of cars around I had to turn on my blinkers and try to pull over . No warning lights no bells no whistles nothin happen before or after. Then on August 29,2021 it happened again this time a busy road . Cars behind me almost ran into me I donât remember any bumps in the road at all . There was no warning ,!scared me. Next time might not be so lucky . I called the Ford dealer and he has made an appointment to see the truck in over a week . Guess we just keep driving and pray it doesnât happen and no one dies . Thanks Ford .
