Complaint Description
The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving 25 MPH, an abnormal noise could be heard coming from the vehicle without warning. The contact pulled over and discovered that the fuel tank was hanging from underneath the vehicle. The contact was able to strap the fuel tank back to the frame and drove the vehicle home. The contact's husband went underneath the vehicle and discovered that the frame where the fuel tank was attached had corroded, which caused the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V160000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 87,013.
