NHTSA Complaint about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:PROPULSION SYSTEM filed July 11, 2021

NHTSA complaint #1756769 (ODI reference 11424296) concerns a 2020 PORSCHE TAYCAN and was filed on July 11, 2021. The owner reports the failure occurred on June 11, 2021. The report was geocoded to Florida based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as electrical system:propulsion system, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same PORSCHE TAYCAN cohort independently describe similar electrical system:propulsion system failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

sudden electrical failure. Two times the car has had sudden unexpected power loss. In particular the forward motion of the stopped suddenly, fortunately i was at low speed <20 mph. Both times electrical error message was noted on the driver's center screen. I was able to turn the car off and then attempted several times to turn it back on, eventually the car started. In my opinion there are no precipitating factors. Also fortunately there were no other cars behind me, otherwise i am sure an accident would have happened.
