2010 FORD EDGE — Complaint #1591789
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE:GASOLINE filed August 7, 2019
NHTSA complaint #1591789 (ODI reference 11242572) concerns a 2010 FORD EDGE and was filed on August 7, 2019. The owner reports the failure occurred on January 27, 2014. The report was geocoded to Florida based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as engine and engine cooling:engine:gasoline, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same FORD EDGE cohort independently describe similar engine and engine cooling:engine:gasoline failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2010 FORD EDGE shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
I HAVE A 2010 FORD EDGE WITH 38,153 MILES. IN THE LAST ONW MONTH I HAVE HAD THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY) AND NOW I JUST HAD THE THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASY. REPLACED FOR $691.03. I SMELLED GASOLINE AND THE ENGINE HESITATED SO, I TOOK IT INTO AUTONATION IN DELRAY, FL. FOR REPAIR. THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND I SHOULD KEEP MY RECEIPT FOR A RECALL IN THE FUTURE. I WAS LUCKY THAT THE CAR DID NOT EXPLODE WITH THE FUEL FUMES. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL OF THIS CONDITION. *JS
