2016 DODGE CHARGER — Complaint #1545861
Open-data reference.
NHTSA Complaint about Other/Unknown filed March 6, 2019
NHTSA complaint #1545861 (ODI reference 11184644) concerns a 2016 DODGE CHARGER and was filed on March 6, 2019. The owner reports the failure occurred on June 10, 2018. The vehicle had 51,235 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to California based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as other/unknown, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.
The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 3, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.
Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same DODGE CHARGER cohort independently describe similar other/unknown failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Related filings for the same vehicle and component appear below, and the detail page for the full 2016 DODGE CHARGER shows the complete component-level complaint distribution alongside any active investigations or recalls.
Complaint Description
I HAVE A 2016 DODGE CHARGER SXT. THE CARS DOOR PANELS ON ALL DOORS HAVE BEGAN TO PEEL BACK. THIS IS CAUSING THE WINDOW FRAMING TO BE EXPOSED AND CAUSING THE WINDOW TO NOT BE PROTECTED. THIS HAS BECOME A NATIONAL PROBLEM WITH THESE DODGE CHARGERS. THERE IS NO WARRANTY OUT THAT CAN COVER THESE ISSUES. THESE ARE NEWER MODEL CARS THAT HAVE DEFECTS THAT SHOULD BE FIXED. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE PUT IN PLACE SO THAT THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM THIS ISSUE CAN GET IT REPLACED WITH NO COST OR AT A VERY LOW COST. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.
