2014 CADILLAC CTS — Complaint #1076740

Open-data reference.

NHTSA Complaint about EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS filed June 18, 2014

NHTSA complaint #1076740 (ODI reference 10599128) concerns a 2014 CADILLAC CTS and was filed on June 18, 2014. The owner reports the failure occurred on May 15, 2014. The vehicle had 3,500 miles on the odometer at the time of the incident. The report was geocoded to North Carolina based on the filer's self-reported location. The affected component is categorized as equipment:other:labels, one of NHTSA's standardized taxonomy codes used to group defect patterns across make, model, and year.

The filer flagged the following severity indicators: crash: no, fire: no, injuries: 0, fatalities: 0. No crash, fire, or fatality was associated with this report, which places it in the early-warning stream rather than the priority-review stream. Because a VIN was supplied, this complaint is tied to a specific vehicle and not just a model-year cohort.

Individual complaints are consumer-submitted and unverified by NHTSA engineers — the agency's role at this stage is to collect, index, and make them searchable. What matters for federal action is the pattern: when many owners of the same CADILLAC CTS cohort independently describe similar equipment:other:labels failures, defect investigators have grounds to open a PE and request manufacturer data. Complaint Description

ORIGINAL WINDOW LABEL HAS GOVERNMENT 5 STAR RATING FOR FRONTAL CRASH AND ROLLOVER. THIS WAS IMPORTANT TO ME AS THIS WILL PROBABLY BE MY LAST CAR. LETTER DATED MAY 16, 2014 FROM GM CHANGED THE 5 STAR RATING TO NO RATING AT ALL. I'M SURE GM USED THE ORIGINAL WINDOW LABEL IN DETERMINING COST OF CAR AND DEALERS USED IT AS A SELLING POINT. THE COST WAS SUBSTANTIAL TO ME AND I MAY NOT HAVE BOUGHT IT AT ALL IF I HAD KNOWN CORRECT SAFETY RATING. I FEEL I WAS DECEIVED, LIED TO, AND MISLEAD. *TR
